The New Radiotherapy Machine
The new radiotherapy machines are expected to start servicing patients by the middle of November 2017.
The unit includes; CT simuator, Linear acclerator with photon dual energies 6MV and 10 MV with electron beam capabiltiy, multileaf collimator and IMRT.
Best Department in The Year
During the annual feast of the faculty of medicine, Menoufia University, the selected best clinical department was the clinical oncology department.
The president of the university Prof Moawad Elkouly handed the certificate of honor to the head of the department Prof Naser Abd El Bary.
Completion of the construction of two extra floors for the oncology centre
The construction of two floor extension has been completed. The next step will be the internal finish details and the furniture including the medical equippment. The old 4 floors have also been renewed. This extension will enhance the service offered to oncology patients in Menoufia and will increase the capacity of the department to accomodate more cases.

follow up of the progress
Prof Ahmed Gamal; (dean of the faculty) and Prof. Nasser Abdel Bary; (professor of oncology and manager of the central administration of the university hospitals) were on a follow up visit to the radiotherapy unit under construction. The unit includes a dedicated CT simulator, a linac with MLC and IMRT properties with dual energy and electron beam and a cobalt machine. A new linac have been recently approved for installation.

A new device of laminar flow is expected to be set up soon in clinical oncology department
UPDATE: The device is already installed and functioning. TPN and chemotherapy are being prepared in sterile conditions now.
The whole residents team were in emergency code during the nursing strike last month (March 2016). Non of them went back home until the crisis is finished.
